| Now that I have the means to work a bit on the Z, I'm working though some of the issues. My head unit (cheaper alpine CDE-100) powered with the little alpine power pack thing keeps shutting off when it tries to pull too much power (high volume). I assume it's due to the voltage drop associated with the high current draw? My question is: I seem to have low voltage at idle (~800rpm). The interior lights dim WAY down. If I rev up just a bit (~1200) all the lights come back on full brightness. Would this be a symptom of a bad alternator or the underdrive pulley I have, or both? I'd like to hang onto the underdrive pulley and try out a new alternator if that's suspect. Thoughts?
